Thymoma: clinical and additional radiologic signs.
T hymoma is a tumor in which detection is a challenge to both the internist and radiologist. Because of its location in the anterior part of the mediastinum, it is sometimes difficult to distinguish radiologically from an aortic aneurysm,14 a prominent left pulmonary artery,13 an enlarged right atrium,”3 enlarged hilar lymph glands, or a pericardial effusion.4 We have lately observed apparently...
متن کاملDiagnosing Small Hepatic Cysts on Multidetector CT: an Additional Merit of Thinner Coronal Reformations
OBJECTIVE We wanted to validate the additional merit of the thinner coronal reformation images from multidetector CT (MDCT) for making the diagnosis of hepatic cysts. MATERIALS AND METHODS For the 90 benign hepatic cysts confirmed on MRI, the transverse (5-mm thickness) and additional coronal (2-mm thickness) reformation images from MDCT were compared with each other in terms of the Hounsfiel...
متن کاملHepatic angiomyolipoma with special attention to radiologic imaging
BACKGROUND Angiomyolipoma is a unique mesenchymal neoplasm composed of blood vessels as well as smooth muscle and adipose cells. The liver is a less common site of origin, and hepatic angiomyolipoma is often an incidental finding on diagnostic imaging or is identified on evaluation of nonspecific symptoms. CASE PRESENTATION We experienced four patients who were diagnosed histologically with h...
متن کاملfulminant hepatic failure due to primary hepatic lymphoma: a case report
primary hepatic lymphoma is a rare malignancy usually presenting with symptoms of fever, hepatomegaly, jaundice and weight loss. this picture mimics infectious and inflammatory disorders and thus delays the diagnosis. here, we present a 47-year old man with prolonged fever who underwent several investigations and, in the meantime, developed fulminant hepatic failure before the diagnosis could b...
متن کاملHypercalcemia due to Primary Hepatic Lymphoma
A 65-year-old female with a history of mixed connective tissue disease and pulmonary fibrosis on azathioprine, hydroxychloroquine, and prednisone (osteoporosis on teriparatide) presented with a 1-month history of hypercalcemia. After discontinuation of teriparatide, the patient's hypercalcemia persisted. Further evaluation revealed primary hepatic lymphoma as the source of her hypercalcemia.
